Explore the beautiful trails on the farm and get up close to the Karoo landscape. The farm boasts a variety of fauna and flora. Guess can explore the farm, hike any of the MTB trails below or explore Fossilkoppie, all starting at the hotel. All trails are signposted.

Take a dip in the natural rock pool to cool down from the Karoo’s summer heat, or simply soak up the views over spectacular rock faces. Follow the road past the tents to reach the rock pool.

Cool down from the Karoo heat, or lounge poolside while sipping on your favourite cocktail. The swimming pool is located at the hotel.

Explore the rugged beauty of the Karoo with a guided quad bike adventure. Ride along scenic mountain trails and take in breathtaking views on a 30-minute or 60-minute experience. Kids under 13 ride for half price, making it a thrilling activity for the whole family!

AfriCamps at Karoo 1, or Karbonaatjieskraal, as it is known in the climbing community, is a hidden rock climbing paradise in the Western Cape. This stunning location offers over 100-metre-high sandstone cliffs, ideal for trad climbing. With excellent conditions, especially in spring, autumn, and winter, this is a must-do on your climbing bucket list.

All 13 tents have their own outdoor wood-fired hot tub, offering the purest form of relaxation! Soak up the beautiful farm surroundings while listening to the calming crackle of the fire or take a dip to cool down on hotter days.

Wear comfortable hiking shoes that can get a little muddy.

Take a windbreaker or some wind/waterproof clothing along in the case of rain or changes in weather.

Take drinking water and power food along on your hike. Bananas, chocolates, or mixed nuts and seeds will give you that boost of extra energy.

Avoid hiking alone! No matter how experienced you are, tell someone which trail you are taking, and your planned route as well as departure and arrival times.

Please do not pick any flowers, damage any plants or change the natural environment in any way.

Please do not leave any litter anywhere on the farm. Animals eating plastic and litter could be seriously injured or even fatally harmed. Bottle tops, beer and cool drink bottles, and cigarette butts have nothing to offer the earth. Please do not leave them behind.

Be safe. Take a cell phone with you.

No smoking is allowed on the trails.

Test your aim and focus with a fun archery session! Suitable for beginners and experienced archers alike, it’s a great way to challenge yourself while enjoying the outdoors.

A fun-filled space for kids! Featuring a trampoline and a jungle gym, it’s perfect for hours of outdoor adventure and play. Grab a soccer ball at reception and play 3-a-side soccer with your friends.

Relax, stretch, and recharge with guided yoga sessions in the chapel. Perfect for all levels, it’s a peaceful way to connect mind and body amidst the beauty of nature.

The Karoo’s dark, unpolluted skies make it one of the best places to experience the wonders of the night sky. Join a guided stargazing session on Saturdays (weather permitting) to spot the Southern Cross, the Milky Way, and, if you’re lucky, a shooting star. Guests meet at reception before the activity.
